Bill Marsh is a Philadelphia-based designer and journalist. His pictorial guide to Philadelphia was inspired by a remarkable axonometric map of midtown Manhattan that was hand-drawn between 1961 and 1981 by Constantine Anderson. The New York map is stunning in its detail and rigorous dedication to accuracy and clarity.

The original version of the Philadelphia map took more than two years to complete. To ensure accurate detail, hundreds of aerial and ground-level photographs were used as reference. It is now in its third printing.

Marsh is available on a limited basis for freelance graphic and design work. Send inquiries via email, or write to PO Box 40653, John Wanamaker Station, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Marsh has lived in Philadelphia for more than 20 years. For the first 14 of those, he was an artist and later Design Director for The Philadelphia Inquirer. Since 2001 he has worked as an artist, graphics editor and writer for The New York Times. He grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated from the University of Michigan.
